The Liberty of a Royal Vacation

In April I set out on a cruise with 2 close freinds on Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas to Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Jamaica. It was an amazing way to push the reset button on my whole frame of mind. I returned fresh, recharged and ready to get back to work.

But we already knew that, right? Isn't that what we hope to accomplish when we escape responsibility and awaken the sleepy parts of our brains with different environments and people?

So, aside from taking a break from the many hats I wear, I concentrated (really hard) on what it means to go away for a few days. I know. It sounds like something only ladies of leisure would have time to think about. First world problems, right?

But I think this is important. My little Texas town, my husband and the bookkeeping for his bustling business, my house (which could really use a spring cleaning), our wonderful and demanding kitties, my amazing son, his precocious and incredibly brilliant son and beautiful girlfriend, even my books and the books which are growing inside my head; leaving all of this for a bit is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL to my mental health!

Have you ever notice that you have slightly different personalities depending on where you are and who you're with? If you never leave to explore other places and meet other people, there could be whole facets of your identity that you never meet!

What if meeting those parts of yourself is somehow tied to living longer and better?
